♦ Description : “Christine Angot wrote this short novel as one takes a picture, without breathing, without taking the time to breathe. Seeking precision, capturing moment and movement. It is not up to us readers to want to know the trigger, no matter how well we know it. One quickly realizes by reading it that the text possesses in him the power to act with violence. It arouses feelings whose anguish can not be evacuated. It provokes the seizure by which one recognizes one of the powers of literature: to give words all their explanatory and figurative power, rather than to use them to cover and hide. It’s as if the writer lifted that veil, not to scare us, but to see and understand.”
“Christine Angot, born Christine Schwartz, is a French author. Victim of incest, she is part of the novelist category “autofiction” or “self-starter” by its striking and poignant style. His best-known work, Inceste (Stock, 1999), has been highly publicized as almost every one of his subsequent works. Her obsessive writing is both intoxicating and tiresome.
Her book Rendez-vous won the prize of Flore in 2006. For the start of the literary season 2008, she published at Seuil Le Marché des Amants, in which she gives a reflection on the meeting of social circles, building on her relationship with the rapper Doc Gyneco. In 2015, she publishes “An impossible love”. The novel is awarded with the December Prize the same year.”
