♦ Description : “Before, Gabriel was doing four hundred blows with his friends in their corner of paradise. And then the family harmony was dislocated at the same time as his “small country”, Burundi, this end of Central Africa brutally abused by history. Later, Gabriel brings to life a world forever lost. Heartbeats and breaths cut, deep thoughts and laughter, the scent of lemongrass, termites on stormy days, jacarandas in bloom … Childhood, its infinite sweetness, its pains that do not never leave. A bright book. Astrid de Larminat, Le Figaro.
A beautiful first novel, heartbreaking and incandescent, which forces admiration. Yann Perreau, The Inrockuptibles.
Gaby is not a little African, he is a child of the world swept away by the fury of fate. Our common obsession. Maria Malagardis, Liberation.
GONCOURT PRIZE OF THE LYCEANS / PRIX DU ROMAN FNAC / PRIZE OF THE FIRST ROMAN.
