♦ Description : “Newspaper – An ode to maternal love all in poetry and without an ounce of mirth. A little miracle. A splendid book, engaging, reassuring, strengthening. –Télérama
– Say, mom, will you love me all my life? Archibald asks, one night before falling asleep
– Um, well, I’ll tell you a secret …, replies his mom.
Thus begins the tender inventory of the moments of life shared between a mother and her child, where everything becomes an excuse to love. On each double page, Astrid Desbordes has opted to oppose opposite situations, which play with ease on the registers of everyday life and fantasy, poetry and humor. The message of this irresistible album is simple and clear: love is constant and unconditional. But it is in the very last sentence that hides the true secret: “I love you because you are my child / but you will never be mine. “The illustrations of Pauline Martin, subtle in the line as in the color, emphasize with force the delicacy of this wonderful declaration of love. From 3 years.”
